a nude lip.

if there is one makeup rule that is tried & true, it is to spotlight only one feature at time. of course for me, i prefer a simple palette to obtain that classic look, vamping up just the eyes or just the lip to add that piece of glam we all want to achieve. i adore above all else a simple, nude lip to get that perfect pout.

i prefer this nude tint from laura mercier – do you have a favorite?

oh, to get away. especially this time of year, as spring is slowly nudging it”s way back into the world {and i do mean slowly}. february is a lovely time to escape &  i have online blackjack long been wanting to stay at the little pond inn in north carolina, an area near and dear to my heart. the rustic simplicity of this inn makes me swoon for a soon-to-be spring vacay.

to dine.

to dine in neutral simplicity is to sit upon this glorious wicker seating, among the cast metal and elm wood with stacks of mismatched white pottery. and, the rope tie-back detail on the curtains, swoon.

fashion week: neutrally feminine.

fashion week is in full force and I am all over the neutral femininity of the spring collection from bcbgmaxazria. the perfect combination of frilly + indie detailing + classic cuts, i love the way the whole collection compliments itself.

what neutrals are your fav from fashion week? we want to know!

beach cottage sleepover.

i know what you’re thinking … this might go against my “rustic elegance” love for design at first glance, but oh no, not a chance! as i flipped thru my west elm catalog, this wide stripped bedding caught my eye instantly.

i can’t get enough of the strength of this fab grey of course, but the stripes instantly took me away to outfitting the most rustic of beach cottages. the cleanliness of the bedding allows it to easily be paired with some worn beadboard or seriously distressed plank flooring.  i love this ensemble, so classic yet can work in so many ways.

all dressed in lace.

when i think frilly & feminine in the last season or so, ann taylor instantly comes to mind. they’ve done a divine job of making it ok to really embrace the flowers, ruffles + frills of life and this antique lace-laden skirt is full on proof.

i love the versatility of this piece and the oh-so-sweet shape, coupled with the layers is killer choice that will take you from church to a night on the town.

love to you.

sending love from us to you this valentine’s day in the form of some of my favorite neutral bouquets of all. my bridesmaids carried these this past summer at my wedding and i couldn’t be more in love with the romance of the soft white petals coupled with the black centered anemones and wild touches of greenery.

and so, on this day of love, much love to all the wonderful readers of our new blog for all your support & encouragement!

we got married in a fever.

if you must know one thing about me, it’s that i’m a hopeless romantic. johnny + june embody that undying love that simply says – let not a thing can stand in your way. their lyrics & vocals, coupled with their opposite attraction make for a true passion that’s hard to match. i adore the simplicity and honesty of this b/w beauty.

hannah heart.

i cannot imagine a sweeter valentine than this. us ladies of neutral hue *just* adore sweet hannah of honey & jam, and i particularly love the rustic approach she takes to styling & shooting. i simply cannot get enough of this shot, or meringue for that matter.

it’s a bling thing.

oh, baby it’s a bling thing. there are few things i adore more than a vintage-inspired piece of jewelry with some serious cocktail rocks. i adore the detail j.crew puts into the clasps & such to truly make these rock. and, there’s nothing like a little diamond shimmer to really set off a neutral look.

southern scents.

i fell in love with the simple design of this fragrance at first glance,  my love only deepened by with southern name and the oh-so-unforgettable, lingering scent itself.  i recently had the good fortune to meet the wonderful folks behind elizabethW, and their founding story is just as sweet as they are.

sweet dreams.

the sleepiest moments in life require the most plush of places to lay your head or lounge. my love for dressing the bed is constant & endless. and, oh how i’ve swooned over these very things in my dreams.

:ashley’s rue magazing picks.

a mangled mix of guilded twigs and straightened sparkles, the drama in this organic ring is simply undeniable. i met the delightful ladies behind avindy at the atlanta gift show and their work is truly a perfect reflection of this lovely mother + daughter team.

reclaiming the kitchen.

as you have likely come to discover, there is no place in my heart, nor my home where barn wood does not rest in perfect harmony. i simply adore this reclaimed wood adorning the kitchen space, giving whole new perspective to a rustic, hearty meal.
